The Bible is not a series of unrelated stories, but one story — of a great Prince who loved us and came to set us free. The year of Jubilee, which occurred in the seventh series of seven years, was a time when captives were set free, debts forgiven, and everything was reset. A fresh start! Tidings of comfort and joy! This is described in Leviticus 25, but it a great symbol for the Messiah who was to come to “set the captives free.”
When you read about the genealogy of Christ in Matthew 1:17, you will notice there are three series of fourteen years — and the discerning (like Livingloved who won our contest) will see that is six sevens. So Christ was born as the seventh seven. He is our Jubilee. He is our Sabbath. He is the One who gives us rest, sets us free, forgives our debts. Let the trumpet of Christmas sound!
Michael Card has a wonderful song about this — you can see him perform it on U-Tube but here are the lyrics.
JUBILEE
The Lord provided for a time
For the slaves to be set free
For the debts to all be canceled
So His chosen ones could see
His deep desire was for forgiveness
He longed to see their liberty
And His yearning was embodied
In the Year of Jubilee
Jubilee, Jubilee
Jesus is our Jubilee
Debts forgiven
Slaves set free
Jesus is our Jubilee
At the Lord’s appointed time
His deep desire became a man
The heart of all true jubilation
And with joy we understand
In his voice we hear a trumpet sound
That tells us we are free
He is the incarnation
Of the year of Jubilee
Jubilee, Jubilee
Jesus is our Jubilee
Debts forgiven
Slaves set free
Jesus is our Jubilee
To be so completely guilty
Given over to despair
To look into your judges face
And see a Savior there
Jubilee, Jubilee
Jesus is our Jubilee
Debts forgiven
Slaves set free
Jesus is our Jubilee
During this Advent season, how could your heart better let Jesus be your rest, your Jubilee? Are you running around like Martha — worried about many things? Are you holding grudges against others, not forgiving their debts? Let them go! Let Jesus be your Jubilee!
Let us read your applications and praise!

Hi Dee! Thank you for the thought that Jesus is our “jubilee!” All day long yesterday, I “worried” about something at work and last night I found out that the thing that I had “worried” about – God had already taken care of. I had no need to worry because He had already taken care of it!
This morning as I read my Bible, these are the verses I read:
Psalm 143:8-12
“Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love,
for I have put my trust in you.
Show me the way I should go,
for to you I lift up my soul.
Rescue me from my enemies, O Lord,
for I hide myself in you.
Teach me to do your will,
for you are my God;
may your good Spirit
lead me on level ground.
For your name’s sake, O Lord,
preserve my life;
in your righteousness,
bring me out of trouble.
In your unfailing love, silence my enemies;
destroy all my foes,
for I am your servant.”
I just want to thank Him because He delivers me – even now – from my “enemies,” from my fears, for He himself is our peace! I am amazed once again, and “anew” at His goodness toward me, because I realize once again, there is no goodness in me that He should be gracious to me – but He is! He is our peace! I thank and praise Him this morning!
May this morning bring you word of His unfailing love!
Blessings!
Read the book of Haggai and see what God has to say about HIS DAY when He conformed Himself to us after our likeness and image as The Messiah, The Son of Man and Seed of Woman (which refers to the fact that when a woman gives birht to a child that child becomes her “seed” or her product/production or art craft.
I love the thought that JESUS is our jubillee. I heard it first in Michael Card’s song years ago. GOD bless
